Sometimes the smallest spaces give you the most to work with, and this shoot was a perfect example of that.

These studio units near Uptown Charlotte aren’t trying to be everything to everyone, and that’s exactly what makes them work. Bold blue accent walls, mustard couches, checkerboard pillows that probably have more personality than I do, art prints that actually feel curated instead of grabbed off a clearance shelf — every unit had its own little identity while still feeling part of the same well-thought-out building. As a short term rental photographer in Charlotte NC, I don’t get handed character like this every day, and I made sure my camera knew it.

What really stood out, though, was the building itself. A proper fitness center that looked better equipped than some gyms I’ve paid memberships for. A dedicated bike storage and repair area for anyone exploring Charlotte on two wheels — and with Plaza Midwood and South End just minutes away, that’s not just a nice-to-have, that’s genuinely useful. There’s a community lounge with an entertainment setup, a shared kitchen and dining space that photographs beautifully with natural light pouring in, and a rooftop-style terrace with seating that made me want to just sit down and stay a while.

And then there’s the little corner that might be my favorite — a clean, simple work desk tucked into the studio, just enough for a laptop and a coffee. For traveling professionals coming into Charlotte for work, that single detail says more than any amenities list could. It tells you this place gets it.

This is the kind of Airbnb photoshoot I genuinely enjoy — not because it’s flashy, but because everything here was done with intention. Essentials done well, with character layered on top, close to Plaza Midwood, South End, and everything Uptown Charlotte has to offer. As an Airbnb photographer in Charlotte NC, it’s spaces like these that remind me good design doesn’t need square footage. It just needs someone who cared.
