I always keep an open mind and never have an expectation of how a place might be when I go for a vacation rental photography shoot. This shoot is for a recurring client, and it’s in a prime south charlotte location, at a huge community surrounded by big commercials and business parks.
From the outlook everything was typical. But when I walked in, I was really blown away with the complete contemporary interior design with a very minimalistic touch and a beautiful mellow color tones all around the house.
Everything from essential to luxury touch was all around. Plenty of room nicely organized for a 2000+ sq ft town home. The space demanded significantly higher number of images to cover the entire area than originally planned, because of all the details and how the space was connected from one to another.
But overall, I was super happy to take photos of this beautiful vacation rental for the airbnb and vrbo.
Photographing a light, minimal townhome
White and cream interiors look easy, but they are hard to photograph well. Too bright and the rooms lose all texture; too dark and they look gray. I balanced each frame so the whites stay clean while the woven baskets, linen pillows and wood accents still show their texture.
Covering 2,000 square feet
The townhome has many connected spaces, so the gallery needed more images than planned to show how one area leads to the next. The open kitchen and dining area got a wide shot showing the long island with stools, the stainless appliances and a white dining table. The living room has a hanging-style rattan egg chair and a gray sofa, and a reading nook with built-in bookshelves around a large leaf-wreath mirror.
Bedrooms with a soft, natural look
Each bedroom pairs white bedding with natural textures: woven trays with folded towels, round textured pillows and highland-cow prints above the beds. One room has bookshelves on both sides of the bed; another has a small desk with a plant on the wall above it. I shot each straight on so the symmetry reads clearly.
