Photographing a family home near Lake Norman
This new-construction home in Denver sits on the west side of Lake Norman, and it is set up with families in mind. The gallery opens with the front of the house, a two-story home with a covered porch and a two-car garage, so guests know exactly what they are arriving at.
Inside, the main floor is open. I photographed the living room and the dining area together to show how they connect: a white sectional facing a fireplace, a long wood dining table with seating for a crowd and big windows letting in plenty of light. A second angle from the dining side shows the front door, the hallway and the stairs.
Spaces for kids and groups
Families want to know there is room for everyone and something to do on a rainy day. So the gallery includes:
- A bunk room with twin-over-full bunks and colorful bedding.
- A game shelf stacked with board games next to the TV.
- Bedrooms with traditional wood furniture, matching nightstands and lamps.
- A soft pillow detail on one of the beds that adds a personal touch.
Each bedroom got a straight-on frame so guests can count beds quickly and plan who sleeps where.
Why the details matter here
A fully stocked kitchen and a shelf of games are the kinds of things families search for. Photographing them, rather than just listing them in the description, makes them believable.
