One Address, Two Completely Different Reasons to Book – Airbnb Photography in South End/Wilmore Charlotte NC

Some shoots feel routine. Then you pull up to a century-old brick home in South End/Wilmore with a gated driveway, a detached guest suite with a skylight, and a wine rack built into a repurposed chimney — and you remember why you do this.

18** Merriman Avenue is a two-unit property in the heart of South End/Wilmore, one of Charlotte’s most walkable and well-loved neighborhoods. Minutes from Uptown, South End, and all the energy that makes Charlotte what it is right now — and yet the street itself is quiet, residential, and the kind of place guests want to return to. The host took what was a classic Charlotte home with real bones and restored it into something that earns its place in both the neighborhood and the market. Nothing about this renovation was lazy.

Modern kitchen with light wood cabinets, granite countertops, an island with two black stools, and four pendant lights hanging above.

The main house — a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom signature unit — is where the old and new live together without fighting. Original character preserved where it mattered, modern finishes brought in where they needed to be.

The dining area is my personal favorite in this property. Natural light, proportional furniture, warm tones, and a composition that framed itself before I even moved my tripod. I kept coming back to it.

Two framed prints hang on a white corner wall next to a glass sliding door, one featuring spotted cats in foliage and the other a person in a cowboy hat holding a sunflower over their eye.

The chimney that likely once heated this old home has been repurposed into a wine rack right beside the fireplace — and that single detail tells you everything about how this renovation was approached. Thoughtful. Intentional. Respectful of what was already there.

The bathrooms are done properly — tile selections that feel considered rather than default, clean lines, good lighting. The flooring flows consistently through the house and ties the spaces together in a way that older renovations often miss.

The living spaces are warm and generous, the bedrooms comfortable and well-furnished, and the kitchen is functional and clean. Every room gives guests what they need without overpromising.

And then there’s the ADU. My favorite unit on the property — and I say that knowing the main house is excellent. The accessory dwelling unit has its own personality entirely: a skylight that changes the entire mood of the interior, colors that feel curated rather than safe, and a layout that punches well above its size.

For a couple, a solo traveler, or a business guest who wants privacy without isolation, this unit is exactly what they’re looking for. It photographs with a warmth that’s harder to achieve than people realize, and the skylight does a lot of that heavy lifting.

Outside, the shared patio and outdoor space connects both units with dining, seating, and lounge areas that make the property feel larger than the square footage suggests. The gated driveway with code access is a small detail that registers immediately for guests who’ve dealt with street parking in South End/Wilmore — it matters more than it sounds. The property is enclosed, private, and well-maintained from every angle.

As an Airbnb photographer in Charlotte NC, two-unit properties like this one are a genuinely interesting challenge — you’re telling two separate stories that also need to feel like they belong together. The photos needed to honor both units without making either one feel secondary. I think they do.

South End/Wilmore has always been one of those Charlotte neighborhoods that sells itself to the right guest. Merriman Avenue, with its mix of original homes and quiet streets, is exactly where a property like this belongs.
