Photographing an Uptown apartment for launch
A new listing has no reviews, so the photos have to build trust on their own. For this three-bedroom, two-bath apartment, I made sure every room is clearly shown and easy to understand. The gallery opens on the main living space, where a green velvet sofa, a leather sling chair, a gold floor lamp and a dining table with industrial metal chairs share one open room, with the balcony doors at the far end.
Keeping a white apartment from looking empty
White walls and light floors can make an apartment look bare in photos. I chose angles that layer furniture in the foreground and background, so each frame has depth. The kitchen, with white cabinets, stainless appliances, a farmhouse sink and a breakfast bar with stools, got a frame from the living room and another closer view to show the counter space.
Details worth a close-up
- A workspace with a monitor, a mesh office chair and a lamp.
- Bedrooms with navy faux-fur pillows and soft teal throws.
- A ring light and a full-length mirror in one bedroom.
- A coffee table detail with a small plant and the remote.
These details matter for an Uptown apartment, where guests are often traveling for work and want to know they can get things done.
