Sometimes, it’s amazing to see how much charm and function can be packed into a space under 1000 sq ft—and this cozy 2-bedroom home near the Charlotte airport is the perfect example. Thoughtfully furnished to welcome guests from all over, this short-term rental proves that small spaces can still offer a full, memorable experience.
Despite its compact size, the home is full of personality. The ceiling height didn’t stop the interior designer from making bold choices, like a stylish gooseneck lamp in the living room and charming dining chairs that add a playful touch, and bold colors on the wall. Every corner is filled with practical essentials, creating a space that feels both warm and well-prepared for guests.
The backyard adds even more appeal, with a cute deck, outdoor dining setup, a firepit for cozy evenings, and even cornhole for a bit of fun. It was a pleasure capturing the character of this home, and I’m sure future guests will enjoy staying here just as much as I enjoyed photographing it.
Photographing bold color in a small home
This home does not shy away from color: a teal bedroom, a deep berry-red dining wall, cobalt curtains, a blue velvet sofa and white-painted brick in the living room. In a space under 1,000 square feet, those choices make every room feel distinct, and I wanted the photos to show that with accurate color. I balanced the daylight from the windows against the lamps so the reds and blues look as rich as they do in person.
I shot the living room and dining nook from angles that show how they connect through an arched doorway, which helps guests read the layout of a compact home quickly.
The kitchen and bath
The kitchen has white cabinets, stainless appliances and a brass kettle on the stove, and I photographed it from the dining side to show it opening onto the rest of the house. In the bathroom, a deep soaking tub with matte black fixtures and refillable amber bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner made for a clean detail shot.
Out back
The backyard is big for a home this size. I photographed the deck, the fire pit area, the cornhole boards on the lawn and a giant stacking-block game, so guests see there is plenty to do outside.
