The Charming Yellow Cottage
Some properties make you smile as soon as you pull up, and this tiny ADU in Dilworth is one of them. From the outside it is a little yellow cottage with a brick patio, red Adirondack chairs, and a garden bench surrounded by greenery. Inside, it is packed with character without feeling cluttered.
What Makes This Tiny Home Special
- Vaulted ceilings with dark beams that make the main room feel much bigger than it is
- Skylights that pour natural light into the kitchen and bathroom
- A mustard-yellow loveseat, navy velvet curtains, and a gallery wall of vintage frames
- A bicycle-base console table and a navy swivel chair in the sitting area
- A kitchen with deep green cabinets, white herringbone tile, open shelving, and a row of yellow mugs
- A farmhouse sink and marble-look counters
- A white subway-tile walk-in shower with a black-and-white checkered floor
- A freestanding tub with wall planters that bring the garden inside
Shooting a Small Space Full of Personality
Tiny homes are fun to photograph but tricky. Every inch matters, and every decor choice is visible. I used wider angles to show how the bedroom, sitting area, and kitchen connect, then mixed in close-ups of the details guests will remember, like the mugs on the brass rail and the little pig-shaped paper towel holder.
The skylights helped a lot. I balanced that bright overhead light with the rest of the room so the white tile stays clean and the green cabinets and yellow accents keep their true color.
