Airbnb Apartment Photography: Capturing Essential and Functional Spaces in Uptown Charlotte

These days, while many Airbnbs tend to be overdone, some hosts forget the essential and functional aspects that make a stay enjoyable. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph multiple units in the heart of Uptown Charlotte in a single day. Each of the seven apartments I photographed had all the essentials, along with extra amenities from the apartment complex, a parking garage, and creative backdrops in every unit. This makes them perfect choices for travelers looking to stay in Uptown and enjoy their trip to Charlotte.

Since all the apartments were nearly identical in size and setup, I focused on mixing and matching shots to showcase different perspectives, including some detailed shots. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Photographing seven units in one day

When units share a floor plan, the risk is seven galleries that look identical. The fix is to lean on what makes each one different. Every unit here has its own backdrop: a living greenery wall with a neon “Charlotte” sign, a flowing blue wave painted across a white wall, or a wall of pink faux roses with its own neon. I made those backdrops the first frame of each gallery, so guests scrolling between units can tell them apart at a glance.

Keeping the essentials clear

Behind the creative walls, each unit has the practical things guests need: a kitchen with dark cabinets, an island with stools and stainless appliances, a living room with a cognac leather sofa or a gray loveseat, and a bedroom off the main space. I photographed the kitchen from the living area in every unit, so guests see the open layout, and added a frame of the balcony where a unit has one, with the pool courtyard below.

Building amenities

Uptown guests care about parking and building features, so the gallery notes the garage and shared amenities, and the balcony shots show the pool and courtyard.

Details worth a close-up

  • The neon signs, photographed so the glow shows without washing out the wall.
  • A skyline print of Charlotte framed against the greenery.
  • Plants on stands that soften the clean, modern rooms.
