Plaza Midwood is already one of the coolest neighborhoods in Charlotte—walkable streets, historic charm, and all the food, drinks, and nightlife you can handle. So, when I got this photoshoot request for this Airbnb right in the heart of it, I knew it wasn’t going to be just another house.

From the outside, you see a ranch home with a clean layout, but the real magic happens as soon as you step onto that wrap-around front deck. Uptown’s skyline peeks at you like, “Yeah, I’m right here,” while a massive, century-old tree keeps the house shaded and perfectly blended with nature. You don’t just stay here—you feel like you’re part of the neighborhood’s history.

Inside, it’s everything you’d want in a short-term rental: three bedrooms, cozy vibes, all the essentials, and a layout that makes you feel connected without being cramped. Whether you’re crashing after a night out in Midwood or sipping coffee while staring at that skyline view, this place gets it right. And honestly? Photographing a ranch with character

This home has original details worth showing: wide-plank hardwood floors, a white mantel in the living room, painted trim and a chandelier over the dining table. I framed the rooms to keep those features in view and shot through the doorways so guests can see how the living room, dining room and kitchen connect.

The kitchen was a highlight to photograph, with warm wood cabinets, a mosaic tile backsplash, a gas range and a butcher-block island with stools. I shot it from both ends so the island and the full run of cabinets each get a clear frame.

Bedrooms and small comforts

Each of the three bedrooms got a straight-on shot of the bed with its lamps and nightstands. In one, a brass headboard and navy bedding with patterned pillows sets the tone. Close-ups of stacked towels on an open shelf show guests the home is ready for them.

Light and the big tree out front

The century-old tree shades much of the house, which keeps it cool but can make interiors dim. I timed the shoot for the brightest part of the day and balanced every window so the rooms feel as bright as they do in person.
